Magnum Ice Cream Bar is good and if only we can have this cool treat as often as we want would be awesome, right? Yeah, right.

What about having a healthier Magnum Bar, one that you can do at home? One that doesn’t taste as nearly as good as the real Magnum Ice Cream Bar but close enough because it’s guilt-free?

Lunchbox Fillers

Here is our DIY Raw Banana Magnum Bar. Let me just call it Raw Banana Chocolate Bar just in case the brand objects to being referred to.

What you need:

  • Frozen Saba Banana. You can cut these in half or just use the whole banana. If it is too big, you need a stick biger and thicker than a BBQ stick.
  • 1 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips (I used tablea I cut in small piece plus a some semi-sweet chocolate chips)
  • Ground nuts (You can use any nuts that you like, I used unsalted roasted nuts)
  • BBQ sticks or bigger sticks if you have these

Lunchbox Fillers
Procedure:

  1. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave. I used the “defrost” setting for 30 seconds, then got the bowl out and stirred. I repeated 3 or 4 times until the chocolates were melted. You can also use a double boiler in melting the chocolate chips.
  2. Insert the stick at one end of the banana.
  3. Dip the bananas in the melted chocolate until all sides are coated. I did not coat one side thoroughly to show the banana in the photo.
  4. Put the chocolate covered bananas on a flat dish. Wait till the chocolate hardens a bit.
  5. To make the chocolate thicker, dip twice or thrice. I didn’t though, I only dipped once.
  6. When you have reached the desired thickness of the chocolate, sprinkle the nuts before the chocolate hardens.
  7. Freeze these chocolate covered bananas until you are ready to serve.

I added a bit of muscovado sugar on my Banana Chocolate Bar because I like it a bit sweeter 😀

These are NO BAKE chocolate peanut butter squares that I made the other day. My son said he ate the “chocnuts” I made and true enough, these taste like those chocnuts we Filipinos like to eat then and now. This is a perfect homemade gift to give to family and friends this Christmas. Fuss [ ... ]

We are big fans of leche flan but I must admit, I haven’t done leche flan yet. Until today. And yes, it was a big hit with the kids and the hubby. Ingredients: 8 egg yolks half a can of (Alaska) condensed sweetened milk, approximately 150ml 4-5 tsp of fresh milk a few drops of […] [ ... ]
