Preparing food for a family with children under 10 is a bit taxing because they tend to be picky at times. One of the ways they will eat vegetables (mine eat vegetables, yey!) is by mixing the vegetables in their food.

Presenting easy-to-cook mixed vegetable chao fan:

mixed vegetable rice

Just fry the rice with lots of garlic, put in the mixed vegetables (can be bought in the frozen section of supermarkets), season with salt (or sauces that you like).

Fry garlic bits in butter or olive oil. When garlic has turned light brown, put in the mixed vegetables. Season with salt or your favorite sauces. I once tried this with Java rice fried rice mix sauce and it was good.

Add slices of fried egg and you get a colorful combination.

Suggestions for add-ons: quail eggs, shrimps, mussels, left-over meat flakes like those from roasted chicken or adobo.

Yum!
