Pineapple-Orange Smoothie

Pineapples are rich in vitamin C, manganese an antioxidant defense. Pineapples also contain high amounts of thiamin, a B vitamin that is involved in energy production,

Pineapples are also fat-free, cholesterol-free and low in sodium. Not surprisingly, they do contain sugar, with 16 grams per cup.

Oranges have vitamin C, vitamin A precursors, calcium, potassium, and pectin.

Ingredients:

2 cups fresh pineapples, put in the freezer for 2-4 hours (or overnight if you like)

1 big seedless orange, peeled. You can also remove the inner thin peel if you like, I don’t.

1 cup of water

Procedure:

Put the orange and water in the blender and blitz. You can choose to strain the juice to remove the thin skin but you risk not getting the pulp. Put in the pineapple slices and blitz again.

No need to add ice cubes because these will make the juice taste thin.

NOTE: sometimes I add a small piece of fresh turmeric root in the blender.
