Slow Cooked Pulled Pork

February 4th, 2014

The hubby got me a slow cooker a few weeks ago and I love using it. We still have to get our electric bill so using this regularly is still a matter to be decided upon.

Anyway, I cooked a few recipes using the slow cooker, am just too lazy to post but here was one of the more recent recipes: Easy Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Slow Cooked Pulled Pork

Ingredients:

2-3 pieces of pork tenderloin or pork lomo  (cut in cubes, 1-1/2 inch thick)

Marinade: 1/4 cup of soy sauce, 3-4 T oyster sauce, 3-4T barbecue sauce, ground pepper, a pinch of salt (I use sea salt so I go easy on the salt) crushed garlic (as many as you want, I don’t usually count) and 3T apple cider vinegar

sliced onions

2 pcs Star Anise

2 pcs Bay Leaf

Procedure:

  1. Marinate the pork cubes for a few hours
  2. Put the sliced onions in the crock pot first.
  3. Put the pork slices on top of the sliced onions together with the marinade.
  4. Cook on LOW heat for 6-7 hours.
  5. When done, shred the pork with forks. I opted to use a knife.
  6. Serve warm.

Slow Cooked Pulled Pork

This can be served as a dish in itself. It can also be served with bread, like the pulled pork pandesal in the photo.

NOTE:

For this recipe, the cooked pork was divided in three: one for packed lunch and two times as bread filling. Freeze the leftover and reheat on a pan. You can add more onion slices and sauces if you like. I added vinegar for a little kick.
