Baked Apple Turon

Baked Apple Turon

I saw this recipe from Connie aka Pinoy Cook and it got me interested because I have all green apples in the fridge.

Here are the ingredients and procedure:

Ingredients

2 Granny Smith apples, peeled and cubed in small pieces
Juice of 1 calamansi
2T all-purpose flour
1/2t cinnamon
1/4t nutmeg
butter at room temperature
Lumpia wrappers

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375F.
  • Line a baking sheet with non-stick paper.
  • In a bowl, toss the apple cubes with the kalamansi juice. Add the flour, toss and make sure that every piece of the apple is coated well. The flour will make the apple juice syrupy during baking.
  • Add the sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Toss to blend.
  • Fill each wrapper with about two tablespoons of the filling. Wrap and seal well. I just used water to seal the lumpia wrapper.
  • Arrange the rolls on the prepared baking sheet. Wipe each one with melted butter on the top.
  • Bake at 375 for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.

Please do not bite into the baked apple turon as soon as possible because inside will be very hot. Wait for a while before eating.

I would have loved to drizzle melted chocolate over these. Next time, definitely!

We were able to make around 20 of these baked apple turon. The kids say these taste better than the apple pie being sold from a fastfood chain.
