Onion and Cheese Sandwich

June 22nd, 2014

Sunday breakfast with the family is something we look forward to. For today’s breakfast, I made Onion and Cheese Sandwiches served with avocado slices.

Onion and Cheese Sandwich and Avocado Slices

The eldest child and I put the avocado slices with the onions and cheese and yes, it made the sandwich creamier and diminished the salty flavor and onion-y taste. The two younger ones just ate the sandwich as it is and had the avocado slices afterwards.

The procedure and ingredients are fairly basic:

2 big white onions, sliced thinly (I didn’t slice thinly though, I like to chew on the onion slices)
2-3T olive oil
2-3T oyster sauce
OPTIONAL: ground pepper and paprika
Sliced bread
Singles cheese

Onion and Cheese Sandwich prep

Procedure:
1. Cook the onion slices on a pan with heated olive oil. Put the oyster sauce while cooking, along with the ground pepper and paprika.
2. When the onions are soft, these are done. Remove from pan.
3. Put the sliced cheese on one piece of sliced bread and enough onions on the other bread. Put these sliced bread together.
4. “Fry” the bread on both sides using the pan you used to fry the onions.
5. Serve warm.
