Grilled Cheese and Onion Sandwich

November 20th, 2013

I saw these round, juicy and almost perfect white onions at the supermarket and I just had to buy a pack. I figured I don’t just want to use these white onions for sauteing so I looked for something unique to use it with.

So here was what I found, Grilled Cheese Onion Sandwich.

Cheesy Onion Sandwich

Onion sandwich? Ewww…Not.

It.was.delicious. The kids, 12 years old and below loved it! The teen loved it too.

Here was how I prepped the Grilled Cheese and Onion Sandwich:

For cheesy onion sandwich

Ingredients:

  • white onions, the bigger the better
  • cheese singles or any other cheese that you fancy
  • room temp butter
  • a little olive oil
  • salt and pepper
  • oyster sauce
  • sliced bread

Procedure:

  1. Heat your skillet and cook the sliced white onions (think onion rings) in a little olive oil. Season with a little oyster sauce, salt and pepper. Cook until the onions are soft.
  2. Get the onions off the skillet once done.
  3. Put a little butter on one side of the bread slices. Put the onions and cheese and pair up the bread slices.
  4. If you have a sandwich griller, use it. If not, use the pan that you used for cooking the onions. Put the bread on the skillet (the side with the butter on the pan) and press with your spatula. Turn over the bread once the side has been cooked.
  5. Enjoy your grilled cheese onion sandwich!
